Muğla Datça’da yapılan Açık Deniz Kış Yüzme Maratonu’na katılan Akşehirli Sporcu İzzet Çetin, genel klasmanda 39, yaş kategorisinde de 7. olarak başarılı bir sonuç elde etti.
28 Şubat 2015 tarihinde Muğla Datça’da yapılan Türkiye’nin ilk ve tek Açık Deniz Kış Yüzme Maratonu olan Datça Açık Deniz Kış Yüzme Maratonu Datça Belediyesi’nin ev sahipliği ile 59’u kadın ve 191’i erkek olmak üzere 250 sporcunun rekor katılımıyla gerçekleştirildi.9. Datça Açık Deniz Kış Yüzme Maratonu’na, Akşehir Belediyesi’nin desteği ile katılan Akşehirli sporcu İzzet Çetin, bireysel olarak katıldığı yarışlarda başarılı dereceler elde etti. Uzun Parkur Erkekler Yarışında 50 dakika 28 saniyelik süreyle genel klasmanda 39. olan Çetin, kendi yaş kategorisi olan 35-40 yaş grubunda da 7. olarak yarışı tamamladı.Yarışlara Akşehir Belediyesi’nin desteği ilke katılan ve aynı zamanda Akşehir Belediyesi’nde memur olarak çalışan İzzet Çetin, “Yarışmaya katılmamda desteğini esirgemeyen Akşehir Belediye Başkanımız Salih Akkaya'ya ve çalışmalarımda destek olan Akşehir Selçuklu Spor Kulübü yöneticilerine teşekkür ediyorum. Amacım daha iyi hazırlanarak bundan sonra katılacağım yarışlarda daha iyi sonuçlar alabilmek” dedi.
