Kaza, merkeze bağlı Yenikent beldesinde meydana geldi. Edinilen bilgiye göre, Balıkesir’de Astsubay Meslek Yüksek Okulu'nda görev yapan Teğmen Osman Çelikel (25), düğünü için memleketi Aksaray’ın Yenikent beldesine geldi. Çelikel, düğüne katılmak üzere otobüsle Aksaray'a gelen silah arkadaşlarını aldırmak için Mustafa Tüzün (25) ile Mustafa Dağdelen'i (25) Aksaray Konya Karayolu kavşağına gönderdi. Konya yolunda otobüsten inen Teğmen Uğur Akdağlı (27), Teğmen Ahmet Dinç (30) ve Teğmen Recep Demirsoy'u (29) 68 KS 528 plakalı otomobil ile alarak yola çıkan sürücü Mustafa Tüzün, belde yakınlarında karşı yönden gelen Celil İlik (51) idaresindeki 06 TNM 07 plakalı otomobil ile kafa kafaya çarpıştı.
Kaza sonrası araçlar adeta hurdaya dönerken, damadın silah arkadaşları Uğur Akdağlı, Ahmet Dinç, Recep Demirsoy (29) ile Celil İlik (51), Rufiye İlik (50), Mustafa Tüzün (25) ve Mustafa Dağdelen (25) yaralandı. Kazanın ardından olay yerine çok sayıda ambulans ve AFAD ekibi gönderildi. Kısa sürede olay yerine gelen 112 Acil Yardım ekipleri yaralılara ilk müdahaleyi olay yerinde yaptıktan sonra Aksaray Devlet Hastanesi’ne kaldırırken, Rufiye İlik, Mustafa Tüzün ve Mustafa Dağdelen yapılan tüm müdahalelere rağmen kurtarılamadı.Kazayla ilgili soruşturma başlatıldı.
