Popüler YouTube yayıncısı Kai Cenat'ın çekilişle ücretsiz bazı hediyeleri fanlarına dağıtacağını duyurması üzerine Union Meydanı'nı dolduran yüzlerce genç arasında tartışmalar yaşanması üzerine çıkan taşkınlığı yatıştırmak ve kalabalığı dağıtmak için New York Polisi (NYPD) ekipleri bölgeye girişi yasakladı.
İnternet üzerinden yayın yapan Twitch isimli içerik kanalındaki oyunlara katılabilme olanağı sunan oyun konsoluna sahip olmak isteyen kalabalık arasında bir süre sonra tartışma çıktı, bazıları ise polise saldırdı.
Polis, olayların daha fazla büyümesini engellemek için Union Meydanı Parkı'nda, çoğu 14-15 yaşındaki gençlerden oluşan gençlerin parkı terk etmesini istedi.
